| An Aussie movie with guys running around in Speedos
Basic Synopsis: It's Cain v. Abel on the Gold Coast as karate-loving, pop rock band-managing Steve (Joss McWilliam) decides he'll compete with iron man brother Adam (Colin Friels) in a bid to win a triaquathon, the Coolangatta Gold, worth $20,000 in gold bullion. But dad Joe Lucas (Nick Tate) has his own Freudian issues, wanting Adam to beat iron man Grant Kenny, as revenge for his defeat in a race by Kenny's father, Hayden, long ago - a defeat that's tarnished his relationship ever since with long suffering mum Robyn (Robyn Nevin). The hyper-competitive Joe spends all his time helping Adam to prepare, ignoring Steve's band Shark Attack and Steve's own ambitions. Alienated Steve decides to take it out on Adam in the marathon race, but Adam his own doubts about being the vessel for his father's dreams of revenge, not to mention his ability to beat Kenny. The family rivalry begins to affect Steve's new relationship with ballet dancer Kerry Dean (Josephine Smulders), especially when Kerry shows a fine capacity to do a Flashdance-style routine in a roof-top disco ... with Adam, a move that sees Steve writhe with jealousy. Can Steve overcome his neuroses to woo and win dedicated dancer Kerry? Can Joe and Steve resolve their differences? Will Steve really defeat Adam just to make a point to Joe? Who will win the race? |
